KUALA LUMPUR – A Form Five student allegedly attacked his father with a knife after being reprimanded for skipping school, police confirmed.
The incident occurred at around 6:10 pm yesterday at their home in Batu 4, Jalan Gombak, following an argument between the student and his 47-year-old father.
The dispute arose after the father scolded his 17-year old son for not attending school despite preparing for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
“He became upset after being scolded and attacked his father with a knife,” a source told Scoop.
The victim sustained slash wounds to his back and left arm and is receiving treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
Wangsa Maju police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail, confirmed that the police received a report about the incident at 6:42 pm yesterday.
“The case involves a misunderstanding between a teenager and his father, resulting in injuries from knife slashes,” he said.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the attack. He is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.
“A remand application was made under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code,” Mohamad Lazim said.
The remand has been granted for three days, effective from yesterday, to assist with the investigation.
“The case is still under investigation, and the investigation papers will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office for further action,” he added. — November 19, 2025
