Teen ‘assisting police with their inquiries’ over Manchester Airport hoax

• RAF Typhoons were scrambled from Lincolnshire to intercept a Qatar Airways flight heading to Manchester Airport after a hoax threat was received.
• The threat was reported to Nats (National Air Traffic Services) around 6pm on Friday, prompting a response from police, the RAF, and airport authorities.
• The aircraft, travelling from Doha, landed safely at Manchester Airport at 7:45pm BST, with no threat to passengers or crew.
• A 14-year-old boy from Bolton, who was not on the flight, is assisting Greater Manchester Police with their inquiries in connection with the incident.
• Chief Inspector Gary Homa emphasised the seriousness of hoax calls, stating they cause significant disruption and divert vital emergency service resources.
