SEMPORNA: An 18-year-old man was detained after allegedly entering a Chinese tourist’s room and assaulting her at a resort here.
Semporna Police Chief Supt Tan Hiap Wah said the 25-year-old woman was asleep in her room at a resort along Jalan Kamiri when she noticed the man inside at about 3am on Sept 19.
The man allegedly held her hand and pulled part of her clothing, leading to a struggle before she escaped and hid in nearby bushes, where resort staff found her the following morning.
Tan said the woman also claimed the man pulled her hair as she fled, causing her to fall, while police detained the suspect at the resort area at about 8pm the same day.
The case is being investigated under Sections 448 and 354 of the Penal Code for house-trespass and assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage modesty, respectively.
