SOOK: An 18-year-old drowned in Sungai Sook at about 8.30pm on Wednesday.
Sook Fire and Rescue Station chief Faisal Ahmad said the victim was confirmed dead by the Health Ministry personnel.
He said the station received a distress call at 8.41pm and a team was deployed to the scene, about 12 kilometres away, arriving at 8.50pm.
According to him, the victim, from Kampung Malima, had already been pulled out of the river by members of the public before firefighters reached the location.
The victim’s body was later handed over to the police for further action.
