SANDAKAN: A young Filipino fleeing the authorities is feared to have drowned after jumping into the sea in Kampung Pukat Pasir Putih, near here, on Friday night.
Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station Chief Nor Azizi Che Noh said he received an emergency call at 8.57am on Saturday about the incident.
He said the 18-year-old was believed to have jumped into the sea after fleeing the authorities.
A hour-long search operation was carried out by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) but the victim was not found.
