A 14-year-old girl under the influence of mushroom vape slashed her neck and wrists after her adoptive mother stopped her from meeting her boyfriend.

MELAKA: A 14-year-old girl, believed to be under the influence of ‘mushroom’ vape, slashed her neck and wrists after being stopped by her adoptive mother from meeting her 17-year-old boyfriend at a house in Jonker Walk, Banda Hilir here.

Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said that in the 10.33 pm incident on Sunday (May 24), the victim, upon being prevented from meeting her boyfriend by her 49-year-old adoptive mother, went into a bedroom on the first floor of the house, before injuring herself with a knife.

“The victim was taken to the Melaka Hospital and her condition is reported to be stable,” he said in a statement today.

Dzulkhairi said investigations also found that the teenager, who is no longer in school, began to be influenced by the use of the vape after being introduced to it by her boyfriend, a Form Four student, in February.

“Investigations are still being conducted on all individuals involved, including the adoptive mother and residents of the house aged between 14 and 17.

“The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 because it is believed that there was an element of negligence or neglect towards the victim,” he said.

The media reported on Tuesday (May 26) that the victim was receiving treatment at the Melaka Hospital after being found with slash wounds on her neck at a house in Banda Hilir.
