JERTIH: A 19-year-old motorcyclist reported missing while travelling to Cameron Highlands for a family holiday has been found dead. The body of Ahmad Azreeq Zafreen Ahmad Azhar was discovered in bushes by the roadside at Kampung Bukit Jeruk near Kampung Beting Lintang.

Besut police chief Supt Rozaime Ab Rahim confirmed the discovery, made by members of the public at about 6.40 pm. The victim’s Yamaha R15 motorcycle was also found at the scene.

Police believe the teen died on Thursday night after the motorcycle he was riding skidded. His family had failed to contact him in the early hours of Friday, prompting a missing person report.

The victim was last seen on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at a petrol station in Kampung Beting Lintang at 1.38 am on Friday. He was travelling separately from his parents and other family members, who were in a car heading to Cameron Highlands from Kampung Batin, Seberang Takir.

The body has been sent to Besut Hospital for identification and a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
