A 16-YEAR-OLD boy pleaded guilty at the magistrate’s court today to a charge of voluntarily causing hurt to former Dang Wangi police chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman during a vacant possession operation at Kampung Sungai Baru in September last year.
The juvenile, who cannot be identified due to his age, entered his plea before Magistrate Nur Farahain Roslan. The court fixed Feb 4 for the submission of a probation report prior to sentencing and allowed the boy to be released on RM500 bail with one surety.
According to the charge, the teenager committed the offence with the intention of instilling fear and deterring Sulizmie from carrying out his lawful duties as the officer in command during the operation.
The incident occurred between 10.50am and 11.14am at Jalan Datuk Abdul Malik, Kampung Sungai Baru, on Sept 11.
The charge was framed under Section 332 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum jail term of three years, a fine, or both upon conviction. Sulizmie is currently serving as aide-de-camp to the King and Queen of Malaysia.
In a separate proceeding before Magistrate Nurul Izzah Hasan Basri, the same 16-year-old, together with another 17-year-old male juvenile and five adult men, was jointly charged with participating in an unlawful assembly at the same date, time and location.
The other accused were identified as Mohd Sopirman Mohd Yunus, 31; Muhammad Redzuan Kamal Abdul Rahman, 19; Muhammad Fallah Islahudden Shah Abdul Fattah, 20; Ariffin Abu Bakar, 56; and Muhammad Azhar Salleh, 36. They were accused of refusing to disperse despite repeated instructions from the authorities.
The charge, framed under Section 145 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum sentence of two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both. All the accused pleaded guilty to the charge except Ariffin.
The two juveniles were each granted RM500 bail with one surety pending the submission of their probation reports. Ariffin was allowed bail of RM2,800 with one surety. The case involving them will also be heard on Feb 4.
Meanwhile, Sopirman, Redzuan, Fallah and Azhar were each fined RM3,500, with a default sentence of six months’ imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutors Joshua Tee and Nurul Farhanah Arul Hisham. The 16-year-old boy and Azhar were represented by lawyer Muhammad Najib Ahmad, while Sopirman, Redzuan and Fallah were represented by Farith Emier Farhan Morni. Lawyer Nur Ashiqeen Mohd Sultan appeared for Ariffin. The 17-year-old juvenile was unrepresented.
Both proceedings were held behind closed doors as they involved juveniles, with the media barred from the courtroom. Only one family member of each accused was permitted to be present in the public gallery.
Previously, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said eight individuals were detained after they refused to comply with orders to disperse and became aggressive during the unlawful assembly. Amid the disturbance, Sulizmie was believed to have been struck on the head with a rock and was later seen bleeding from the injury.
Fadil said “outsiders” were believed to have instigated the unrest during the operation, which was carried out as part of a redevelopment plan for the area. - January 2, 2026
