On 26 January, authorities brought the 17-year-old girl, allegedly raped by her biological father in Kendong, to the crime scene as they sought additional evidence. Rembau district police chief DSP Hazri Mohamad mentioned that the victim received medical attention at Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in Kuala Pilah and is currently being cared for by the Social Welfare Department.

The remand period for the 47-year-old rape suspect, scheduled to conclude today, is now being extended by four days, as the police seek additional time for a more thorough investigation. After the investigative process is concluded, the findings will be handed over to public prosecutors for further legal action. As part of the investigation, the victim has been temporarily relocated from the hospital to the crime scene.

This strategic move aims to gather crucial evidence and insights. The extension underscores the commitment to a comprehensive inquiry before moving forward with any legal proceedings against the suspect in question.

The enduring trauma persists within the survivor, who had, until recently, resided with her grandmother from the tender age of four. A significant juncture unfolded in June 2022 when she transitioned to her father's residence. This poignant shift is now overshadowed by a harrowing incident.

During a press briefing in Pekan Kota today, it was revealed that the survivor, courageously facing adversity, informed the suspect's girlfriend about the abhorrent incident. In a distressing turn of events, the suspect was subsequently arrested, accused of subjecting the survivor to further physical brutality by means of beating and kicking. Media outlets have closely followed the evolving narrative of this deeply troubling situation.

In the ongoing investigation, Hazri disclosed that the case falls under scrutiny for multiple legal violations. These include Section 324 of the Penal Code, addressing intentional infliction of injuries, as well as Section 18(A) of the Domestic Violence Act 1995, emphasizing the significance of the incident within a domestic context.

Additionally, the investigation extends to Section 376(B) of the Penal Code, possibly relating to more severe implications. The combination of these legal sections underscores the comprehensive nature of the inquiry into the alleged offenses. - Bernama
