- Kian Bateman, 19, has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of mother-of-three Shelley Davis and causing grievous bodily harm to her partner, David Bratcher.
- Bateman, high on nitrous oxide, used his car to hit Ms Davis and Mr Bratcher outside a club in Caerau, Cardiff, in September last year, following a disagreement.
- Ms Davis, 38, died two weeks after the incident from multiple organ failure and complications, while Mr Bratcher, 40, sustained serious injuries.
- The judge stated that Bateman did not intend to harm Ms Davis but was guilty of her murder because she was in the way when he intended to cause serious harm to Mr Bratcher.
- Bateman must serve a minimum of 17 years in prison and has been disqualified from driving for 21 years and 109 days.
