Tragedy struck the Kyarda-Surajpur industrial area of Paonta Sahib after a 19-year-old worker died in a lift accident at Pace Biotech, prompting police action and allegations of negligence against the company management.

The deceased, Arman Khan, a resident of Kyarda village, was employed at the pharmaceutical unit and was engaged in loading finished goods and transporting material through the company’s lift system.

According to a complaint registered at Majra police station, Arman was placing goods inside the lift on June 8 for transportation to a lower floor when the lift allegedly moved downward suddenly. He became trapped between the lift and the floor, suffering fatal injuries.

Co-workers immediately rushed him to JC Junega Hospital in Surajpur, where doctors declared him dead.

News of the incident spread quickly, drawing family members and villagers to the hospital. Relatives alleged that inadequate safety measures and negligence on the part of the company management led to the fatal accident. They demanded strict action against those responsible and appropriate compensation for the bereaved family.

Police have registered a case against the company management and probe was underway.
