Police have submitted the investigation papers on the vandalism of four statues at a Jalan Klang Lama temple to the Selangor State Prosecution Office.

KUALA LUMPUR: The investigation papers into the case involving the vandalism of four statues at a temple in Jalan Klang Lama here on Oct 6 have been referred to the Selangor State Prosecution Office for further action, police said.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said all the suspects, including an activist who was remanded for three days to assist in the investigation, were released on police bail on Tuesday. Police arrested them in Beranang, Selangor, on Oct 11.

He said police are investigating the case under Section 295 of the Penal Code.

“Initial investigations found that four religious statues at the temple had been damaged. However, the value of the losses has yet to be established,” he said in a statement today.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan had urged police to investigate after a video of the vandalism went viral.
