Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag admits the penalty they won made the difference after victory at Everton.
Everton did enough to put the game to bed in the first-half after Alejandro Garnacho's wonder goal in the opening minutes. But United were the better team after halftime as Marcus Rashford converted a penalty won by Anthony Martial, who then slipped in the visitors' third late on.
Ten Hag said: "The start of the game, very good. A very good team goal, the finish was incredible - world class. Probably already the goal of the season. Magnificent moment.
"Then we went passive and Everton went in the game. At half-time we corrected it and were very good. We were proactive, taking the initiative and scoring great goals.
"At first I was wondering why it was not a penalty. So obvious. Happy we got the penalty. We have some very good penalty takers. There you saw the captaincy - he knew a player needed the goal. It will help him and give him extra strength.
"Excellent team goal and an excellent finish [from Martial]. We have front players, a lot has to do with confidence and belief.
"Of course, we're taking positives from it. We had problems in the start of the season. A lot went against us. We're growing. We have to keep this process growing."
On Kobbie Mainoo's full debut, he said: "We know we're in a transition. We have to develop players. Kids have to deserve it. It was painful for us when he got a bad injury in pre-season but now he's back. He's a good boy, very mature. He showed it today."
