Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been left frustrated and angry by a major intervention from the club's board.

With the club's sale negotiations continuing to rumble on, Ten Hag has been informed that the summer transfer budget is now frozen.

The Mirror says Ten Hag has been told any recruitment of external consultants is now on-hold.

There is also confusion over the size of United transfer warchest, with Ten Hag yet to be informed how much he can spend this summer.

The Dutchman is seeking direction from chief exec Richard Arnold, who has been unable to offer complete clarity due to the club's muddled sale process.

Also concerning for Arnold is that he has had no word about whether he will have a place in any potential new owner's management setup.
