Erik ten Hag wants to end the Manchester United career of Cristiano Ronaldo after Wednesday night's strop.

United have announced Ronaldo has been dropped for their clash with Chelsea and banished from senior training after leaving Old Trafford before the final whistle of victory over Tottenham.

The Sun says the United boss has the full backing of the club's hierarchy and Ten Hag dealt with the matter as soon as Ronaldo arrived for training at the club's Carrington HQ yesterday.

The Dutchman now wants either the player's contract, that runs to the end of the season, ripped up or for the Portuguese to be dumped in the January transfer window.

Ronaldo has lost the backing of the few allies he had left in the Red Devils camp.

Recently he had seemed happier but his Spurs strop was the final straw for the few team-mates who had continued to back him.
