PENAMPANG: Several tenants at a shopping mall in Donggongon have voiced frustration over air-conditioning problems which they claim have persisted for almost a month, affecting their businesses despite repeated complaints to the management.
Lindsay, a tenant at Sunshine Studio, said the air-conditioning sometimes provided little cool air and at other times failed to cool the premises, forcing them to rely on fans.
"Customers had also complained about the heat, with some even saying they would only return once the air-conditioning was functioning properly," she told Daily Express, recently.
Another tenant, who requested anonymity, claimed affected occupants were informed that the problem involved a compressor serving multiple units and that some payments were still outstanding.
A separate tenant claimed an additional payment of close to RM300 per unit had been requested in connection with the air-conditioning problem.
The tenant said payment had already been made for several premises in the hope that the problem would be resolved quickly, but the cooling issue remained unresolved.
The tenant claimed the management had repeatedly asked them to wait, with assurances that the problem would be addressed, while another tenant said a fan had to be purchased due to the prolonged heat.
The tenants said the situation had affected customer comfort and business, with some customers allegedly leaving because of the heat.
They called for prompt action and a clear timeline for the air-conditioning problem to be resolved.
Daily Express contacted the management seeking clarification on the cause of the problem, the number of units affected, the additional payments requested and the expected timeline for repairs, but had yet to receive a response as of publication time.
