The Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, is in Beijing, China, for a technical visit aimed at bolstering investment opportunities and educational cooperation between the Malaysian state of Selangor and key Chinese entities.
Tengku Amir, who serves as the Royal Patron of Invest Selangor Bhd, was accompanied by his wife, Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini, and the Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade, and Mobility, Ng Sze Han. The delegation participated in a series of high-profile corporate visits and international forums.

A primary focus of the visit was to engage with leaders in technology and infrastructure. Tengku Amir, who left for Beijing on Dec 1, visited Bridge Data Centres (BDC) yesterday, a leading provider of data solutions in the Asia Pacific region. BDC currently operates a major data centre facility and ecosystem in Cyberjaya, Selangor.

The delegation also visited the headquarters of China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC), a global leader in infrastructure contracting. A subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Ltd. (CCCC), CHEC is the main contractor for Malaysia’s East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project.

Further expanding on the technological agenda, the Raja Muda visited the Alibaba Beijing Chaoyang Technology Park, where he met with representatives from the Chinese technology conglomerate, Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.

Beyond trade and investment, Tengku Amir Shah attended the South East Asia Entrepreneurship Education Network Programme organised by Unesco INRULED.

At Beijing Normal University, the Selangor prince delivered a keynote address at the International Symposium on Education for Sustainable Rural Development. He also witnessed the launch of the ‘Youth Empowering Sustainable Rural Development Action Plan’ and toured the university campus.

In a separate engagement at Tsinghua University, the Raja Muda witnessed a signing ceremony between the university and The Asia Institute of Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Diplomacy (AiSED) and participated in a Global Youth Dialogue session.

Tengku Amir and Afzaa attended a dinner reception on Dec 2, as they engaged with the Malaysian diaspora in Beijing.

The technical mission, organised with Invest Selangor Berhad, underscores the state’s proactive approach to securing high-value investments while fostering international collaboration in education and sustainability.
