FORMER finance minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz is set to testify as the 11th prosecution witness on 6 July in the corruption and money laundering trial involving Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
The High Court fixed the date after proceedings on Monday concluded with the prosecution completing its opening statement and presenting testimony from a formal witness.
High Court judge Noor Ruwena Md Nurdin also indicated her intention for the prosecution stage of the trial to conclude before 14 September.
“I think Tan Sri (Muhyiddin) also wants this case to be completed, otherwise it is difficult for him to move around,” the judge remarked during proceedings.
The day’s hearing involved testimony from the prosecution’s 10th witness, Assistant Registrar at the Companies Commission of Malaysia, R Harshini.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin informed the court that another 18 prosecution witnesses were expected to testify in the case involving the Pagoh Member of Parliament.
Muhyiddin, 79, arrived in court dressed in a dark red suit and appeared calm while seated in the dock.
The former prime minister and president of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia is facing four charges of alleged abuse of his position to obtain bribes amounting to RM232.5 million, along with several counts of receiving proceeds from unlawful activities totalling RM195 million.
The case remains one of the most closely watched political corruption trials in Malaysia, given Muhyiddin’s status as a former premier and opposition coalition leader. - May 25, 2026
