KUALA LUMPUR – Tensions flared outside the magistrates’ court in Sepang this morning when a man, believed to be a relative of the female university student murdered on June 24, attempted to approach the suspect.
The man, described as tall and wearing a red shirt, tried to move towards the suspect as he was being led out of court after a remand extension hearing at around 9.50am.
The main suspect – a local man – and two female suspects had just exited the courtroom when the individual began shouting and walking towards them.
“Oi! You killed my sister, use your brain a bit lah. My sister, you made her die!” he yelled from a distance, according to Harian Metro.
Police at the scene quickly intervened to calm the man and prevent any escalation.
Meanwhile, the lawyer representing the main suspect, M. Manoharan, criticised the police for issuing public statements suggesting his client had “ill intent.”
He said such remarks were inappropriate while investigations were still ongoing, and reminded that under the law, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
“We raised our objection before the magistrate regarding Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan’s statement, which included excerpts of evidence that could prejudice my client’s case.
“This is a very serious matter. The police’s role is to investigate, and we have wise, educated, and competent judges to decide who is guilty and who is not,” he told reporters. – July 3, 2025.
