The Terengganu state government is banning entertainment activities in the state for the last 10 nights of Ramadan.

According to a report by Harian Metro, Majlis Bandaraya Kuala Terengganu (MBKT) Mayor Datuk Rosli Latif shared that his party has distributed letters prohibiting entertainment activities to all supermarket owners and organisers of Moreh, Ramadan Bazaars and Aidilfitri Bazaars.

“To ensure that the instructions are complied with, MBKT enforcement officers and personnel will patrol all supermarkets, Moreh, Ramadan and Aidilfitri Bazaar activity sites,” he said.

This includes busking and street music

Terengganu State Local Government, Housing and Health Committee chairman, Datuk Wan Sukairi Wan Abdullah, added that the ban is to respect the last 10 nights of Ramadan, and assured that the ban will not continue throughout the year.

“All business premises operators, Moreh, Ramadan Bazaar and Aidilfitri Bazaar organisers are requested to comply with the order not to hold entertainment activities by buskers or street musicians. The ban also does not only involve entertainment activities and performances within the Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) area but rather throughout the state,”

“The local council will take enforcement action in accordance with local government laws,” he shared.

The ban officially came into effect yesterday (Thursday, March 20), until the end of this month.
