The Yang Dipertuan Muda of Terengganu presented Aidilfitri contributions to 300 asnaf and students, bringing relief to families facing hardship.
CHUKAI: The Yang Dipertuan Muda of Terengganu, Tengku Muhammad Ismail Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, presented Aidilfitri contributions to asnaf and students from Kemaman and Dungun districts today.
His brother, Tengku Sri Setia Mahkota Raja Terengganu Tengku Muhammad Mua’az, and Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar were also present at the event held at the Kemaman Municipal Council.
A total of 300 recipients received contributions in the form of cash and Raya clothing.
The ceremony brought particular comfort to 14-year-old student Nur Airis Insyirah Mohd Hazmi, who lost her father about a month ago.
Nur Airis, the eldest of five siblings, said she had not made any preparations for Aidilfitri following the passing of her father Mohd Hazmi Yusof on February 3.
“Alhamdulillah, I was selected to receive the contribution, and it will help ease the burden on my mother, Norasikim Ibrahim, 42, in preparing for Aidilfitri celebration this year,” she said.
She explained that her four younger siblings have also yet to complete their Raya clothing purchases.
Another recipient, single mother Sabariah Sulong, 40, said the contribution would be used to buy Raya essentials for her six children.
Sabariah, who works as a food stall assistant, lost her husband to liver cancer two months ago.
“Our Raya preparations are modest, as we are still shocked by the loss of the head of our family,” she added.
