Terengganu authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to prevent any resurgence of the teachings of Ayah Pin, which were declared deviant over two decades ago. Despite recent concerns about attempts to revive these teachings, a thorough investigation by the police has found no concrete evidence of such activities among the residents of Ayah Pin's former base in the Besut district.
Police Chief Datuk Mazli Mazlan's recent visit to the village revealed no suspicious behavior among the 124 residents, who are primarily family members and associates of Ayah Pin. However, Mazli noted a gathering for what appeared to be a "doa selamat" session, hinting at a possible attempt to revive the teachings during such events. He assured the public that continuous monitoring, in collaboration with the Terengganu Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAT), is in place to prevent any resurgence of the controversial teachings.
Reports of a revival have prompted investigations, with statements recorded from individuals claiming to have witnessed such activities. A woman in Pahang filed a report alleging the revival of deviant teachings, while the police are considering taking a statement from the owner of a Facebook account named 'Imam Muda Kulan,' who made similar claims. Mazli stressed the importance of credible information and urged the public to refrain from making unsubstantiated statements or exaggerating the issue.
The recent concerns have also caught the attention of the state government, with Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi, the Terengganu Information, Preaching, and Shariah Empowerment Committee chairman, acknowledging the seriousness of the situation. He assured the public that appropriate actions will be taken by the authorities to address any attempts to revive the teachings of Ayah Pin.
As efforts continue to gather feedback from JHEAT regarding the matter, authorities remain committed to upholding the law and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance in safeguarding against the spread of extremist ideologies and preserving social harmony within society.
