KUALA LUMPUR – Seputeh MP Teresa Kok has lodged a police report after a fake article, claiming she had made controversial remarks about halal certification for pork, went viral on social media.
Kok and her assistant visited the Sri Petaling Police Station to file the report and notify the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) about the matter.
In the police report, Kok said that on January 14, 2026, she received several WhatsApp messages from friends regarding an article titled “Halal Certificate for Pigs is Justified – Teresa Kok,” accompanied by her photo.
She was informed that the article had spread widely on social media platforms.
The DAP MP confirmed that she had never made such a statement and described the article as defamatory.
She named 18 Facebook accounts and one Thread account, “infra.gadget,” that had shared the article, accusing them of spreading false information.
“This fake and defamatory article has tarnished my reputation, falsely portraying me as an instigator of racial and religious discord, which threatens social harmony,” Kok said in a Facebook post.
She further urged the police to investigate all the social media account owners involved in sharing the article, calling for appropriate legal action to be taken. - January 15, 2026
