Almost a week after Tesla Malaysia began to accept bookings for Model Y, the electric SUV has officially revealed to the public at Pavilion KL today. The event also presented us with the opportunity to obtain clarification regarding several matters such as sales tax and the free Wall Connector offer.

As you might have heard, a post on the Malaysia Electric Vehicle Owners Club (MyEVOC) Facebook group led us to a chat with the Tesla Malaysia customer service hotline last week. We were informed that Model Y customers would be provided with a free Wall Connector but as it turned out, that's not the case at all.

Tesla Malaysia representative informed SoyaCincau at the Pavilion KL event today that there was a miscommunication regarding the Wall Connector. At the moment, there is no such offer and the company has since noted this to all Tesla Advisors in Malaysia.

Nevertheless, the company has confirmed that the Wall Connector is on its way to Malaysia. Further announcements regarding the AC home charger will be made in due course and the company asked customers to stay tuned.

Perhaps, there will be a good deal coming our way? Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet but in case you are curious to know how much the Wall Connector costs, here are some indicators.

In Singapore, the Wall Connector is available for SGD790 (~RM2,716) and in the United States, it can be obtained for USD475 (~RM2,163). So, we doubt it is going to be priced at under RM2,000 once it is officially released in Malaysia.

The Tesla Model Y is priced from RM199,000 for the RWD base model, RM246,000 for the AWD Long Range and RM288,000 for the AWD Performance. Here’s a recap of the Model Y from the launch.
