The highly anticipated Tesla Model Y, also known as "Juniper," has finally made its way to Malaysia. This latest iteration of Tesla's fully electric SUV brings a refreshed design, improved range, and new features inspired by the current Model 3. If you're eager to see it up close, the Model Y is now available for public viewing at Pavilion Damansara Heights until 2nd March 2025.
For those in Johor Bahru, the Model Y will also be showcased at Mid Valley Southkey from 19th to 23rd February 2025. Tesla Malaysia has been accepting orders for this upgraded EV since January, with deliveries expected to begin in April 2025.
Price and Variants
The new Model Y is offered in two versions:
Model Y RWD - RM195,450
Model Y Long Range AWD - RM242,450
Customers can choose from various colour options, with Stealth Grey as the default. Other colours are available at an additional cost:
White - RM5,000
Glacier Blue - RM7,500
Quicksilver - RM11,000
Ultra Red - RM11,000
Performance and Features
The Model Y RWD can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds, while the Long Range AWD variant does it in just 4.3 seconds. The new design improves aerodynamics, giving the RWD model a range of up to 466km and the Long Range AWD version up to 551km (WLTP-rated).
Notable upgrades include a Cybertruck-inspired lightbar, ventilated seats, a secondary screen for rear passengers, and powered rear seats for easier adjustments. The car also boasts a total storage capacity of 2,130 litres, with added enhancements such as a drainage plug in the front trunk.
Smart Features and Customisations
The Model Y comes standard with basic autopilot, but buyers can upgrade to the Enhanced Auto Pilot for RM16,000, which includes auto lane change, auto park, and summon features. Full-Self Driving is also available for RM32,000, though it is not yet enabled for use in Malaysia.
