Tg Malim facilities to be improved for China’s investment: MB

IPOH – The state government will provide and improve facilities and infrastructure in the Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV) in Tg Malim to welcome China’s automative investments in the location, said Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamed.

Saarani said among those planned included building more affordable houses and a new school following the relocation of the entire operations of Proton from Shah Alam to Tg Malim by 2027.

“The focus will be on providing the necessary infrastructure to accommodate the number of workers who will come to Tg Malim’s AHTV which will create a new township and boost the domestic economy by attracting retail companies to operate in the area,” he said in a press conference after a Raya Food Presentation ceremony by the Perak state government for uniformed bodies at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here today.

Earlier, a total of RM32.5 billion in investment was received involving the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation as a result of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent visit to China.

The total investment includes two Chinese companies through automotive company Geely for electric vehicles and DC-Sciences Co Ltd involving data centres.

Meanwhile, Saarani said the state government has also applied to the Education Ministry to add more schools in Mualim.

“Imagine if there are 7,000 workers with 7,000 families and they have at least three children and we will have 21,000 children going to school, a census will be conducted to get accurate numbers and suggest a suitable site for the construction of the school,” he said. – Bernama, April 12, 2023
