Malaysian haj pilgrims set an example as the Masyair Cleanliness campaign is strengthened to promote cleanliness and moderation during the 2025 haj season

MAKKAH: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said the Masyair Cleanliness campaign, implemented since 2017 among Malaysian haj pilgrims, will continue to be strengthened during this year’s haj season to ensure that the culture of cleanliness is fully embraced.

He said the campaign is not only aimed at ensuring accommodation areas and places of worship remain clean, but also at cultivating a way of life that reflects the spirit of being duyufurrahman (guests of Allah).

“Alhamdulillah, we have seen how Malaysian haj pilgrims have set a good example by maintaining cleanliness at their accommodation and around the Masyair areas.

“This year, we want to strengthen those efforts further. We want the culture of cleanliness, in line with the spirit of being duyufurrahman, to be truly embraced, including in aspects such as maintaining cleanliness, avoiding wastefulness, and practising moderation,” he said.

He said this after officiating the Makkah Haj Pilgrims’ Accommodation Building Cleanliness programme and the Masyair Cleanliness campaign for the 2026 haj season today.

Zulkifli said the programme reflects the continued commitment of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) in ensuring the welfare, comfort, and well-being of pilgrims are always prioritised, particularly in terms of cleanliness, health, and a conducive environment throughout their stay in the Holy Land.

According to him, the effort is also in line with the aspirations of Saudi Arabia to enhance cleanliness standards and environmental management in the Holy Land through Saudi Vision 2030.
