BANGKOK: A man in Thailand has recently been fined 10,000 baht (around RM1,320) after he was found guilty of animal cruelty for dragging his pet dog from a motorcycle, The Bangkok Post reported.
Pannawit Padwaew, 35, received the sentence from the Nakhon Ratchasima provincial court in Pak Chong following the incident outside the Pak Chong municipality office.
He was seen by witnesses pulling a four-month-old dog named "Salmon" on a leash behind his moving motorcycle for about 600 metres, causing injuries including bruises and bleeding.
The act was caught on video and quickly went viral, prompting a complaint from the animal rights group Watchdog Thailand Foundation.
Pannawit admitted to police that he was enraged after a fight with his partner and deliberately hurt the dog as an act of spite, while the pet has since been adopted and is recovering.
