Kota Kinabalu: Wira Warisan reiterated the proposal to the Federal Government by the party Deputy President, Datuk Darell Leiking that Kudat be made the country’s new shipping and trade centre to cushion the possible economic impact caused by Thailand’s Landbridge Project.
Vice Chief Khairuddin Daud said the proposal is a pragmatic solution to the absolute poverty and unemployment issues in northern Sabah.
“Thanks to the Malacca Strait, China has become Malaysia’s major trading partner that boosted our country’s development for decades but this set to change in a manner of less than a decade when Thailand starts the Landbridge Project (known as The Kra Canal).
