It is heartening to learn from Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim after a bilateral meeting with Premier Li Qiang in Nanning that China would support Malaysia's efforts to implement the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030. According to the Star, the NIMP 2030 outlined plans to transform the country into a high-tech nation in seven years' time, with a total investment of RM95 billion. It reported that Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Nanning, China said that, “Chinese companies' views about Malaysian professionals, engineers, technicians, IT experts are very good, as they are known for their dedication and discipline.”
According to World Economic Form 2030, many believe that the 19th century belonged to the United Kingdom and the 20th century to the United States. Now economists are projecting that the 21st century is destined to become the “Asian Century.” Much of that growth can be attributed to the strong dominance of Asian politics and culture and the growth of demographic and economic trends.
Over the past few decades, the expectation that Asia will regain its place as the engine of global economic growth has gained momentum with the growing power and influence of its middle class. In fact, reflecting on the 159 pages book “The Asian Renaissance" published by Times Books International (TBI) in 1996, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the then Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Malaysia, stated "The rise of China and India as new economic power-houses is affecting the balance of economic power globally. The rise of Asia is likely to exert greater influence in the world and human civilization profoundly by a cultural rejuvenation."
In other words, though the Madani Economy has its home base in Malaysia, its sources are international in scope and its meaning universal. It is thus a historical impetus movement with a mission to rediscover, preserve, promote, invigorate, synthesize and bring to a greater height nothing less the whole human cultural & intellectual heritage. ‘The Asian Renaissance’ book linking with Madani economy is an attractive alternative and above all a more inspiring turn to the “rise of Asia” for Asia and the whole world.
