The audacity to preach integrity from a den of corruption: Zahid's "Kelentong" that BN brings stability, prosperity is challenged by a young man over Tiktok #GE15

On Oct 29 Malay Mail reported that Ahmad Zahid Hamidi claimed that only the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition could bring stability and prosperity.

He made the statement when launching Barisan Nasional’s "Solidarity, Stability and Prosperity" programme at UMNO building in Bagan Datuk, Perak recently.

Almost immediately a rebuttal came from a young man, Lim Weit Jiat on Tik Tok. Speaking in perfect Bahasa Malaysia, he labelled Zahid's claim as pure "kelentong".

For those unfamiliar with Kelentong or mengelentong, it is a verb tell, "a cock and bull story, i.e. an outrageous and unbelievable one tell an untrue story with the intent to deceive for gain."

Lim said that when Pakatan Harapan came to power the one that was causing the instability was BN led by Zahid because it was defeated in the general elections for the first time in the nation's history.

Then when Perikatan Nasional (PN) succeeded PH it was Zahid that engineered its downfall by withdrawing support from the coalition because UMNO was not in the driver's seat.

But once Zaid succeeded in putting Ismail Sabri Yaakob, his own Vice President in the driver's seat as Prime Minister, he instigated for by-elections in Melaka and Johor and lobbied for early polls during the monsoon much to the annoyance of the public.

Zaid, claims Lim, is the cause and the reason for instability in the country largely because he was planning on trying to escape having to endure his criminal trials and avoid going to jail.

I may have editorialised some of what Lim said but it is clear since 2018 BN may be considered the main reason why the country is unstable and the corruption scandals brought about by its own immediate past president Najib Razak too helped enhance the instability.

In fact, helped BN's scandal might have caused a crisis of confidence and discouraged foreign investors from coming to our shores.

Now that we are preparing to go to the polls Zahid has the audacity to say that BN is the only coalition that could bring stability and prosperity to the nation.

For Zahid it is indeed hypocritical and hypocrisy, to quote an anonymous author, is the audacity to preach integrity from a den of corruption.

It's time Zahid looks himself in the mirror and bowed out before he's ejected.
