AFTER more than a decade, the United States President's 'Beast' is expected to hit the streets of Kuala Lumpur again.
It was last seen in the capital during Barack Obama's visit in 2014.
The Cadillac One or more popularly known as ‘The Beast' was manufactured by General Motors in 2009 and has specific features for the safety of the president, with specifications similar to a tanker.
Measuring five meters in length and weighs eight tonnes, ‘The Beast’ features a bullet-proof door which is 20cm thick. The body is made largely of titanium, steel, ceramic and aluminium.
'The Beast' is loaded with Bond-style gadgets believed to include smoke screens and door handles rigged to send a 120-volt electric shock to ward off attackers.
The limousine is also equipped with puncture-resistant tires as a way to protect the President from bullets, spike strips or any other device aimed at disabling the car’s tyres. Even the fuel tank is armour-plated to help repel bullets.
‘The Beast’ is equipped with night-vision cameras, pump-action shotguns and tear-gas canons.
Cadillac One is generally updated every few years with new gizmos and gadgets so an estimated 16-20 old models are still around.
The vehicle can accommodate a maximum of 7 people, including the president. – October 25, 2025
