Chairing is a key role of the voluntary management committee, like Persatuan Aeroangkasa MYAEROSATU approved by the Registrar of Societies (PPM-009-10-14022025). It is not simply chairing the committee meeting every alternate months and that there is full participation during meetings, that all relevant matters are discussed and that effective decisions are made and carried effectively. The role of a Chairman is time consuming, with work between meetings, external representation of the organisation, and work effectively with Deputy President, Secretary & Treasurer. I know chairing MYAEROSATU requires diplomatic and leadership skills of a high level.
At its 1st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of MYAEROSATU held at Wisma MPM Kuala Lumpur on 18 March 2025, I was unanimously elected as the Chairman for a term of 2 years (2025-2027). Alhamdulillah. I am grateful with the mandate and trust given by founding members. I know my overarching role as the Chairman is to provide leadership and must be an effective strategist & a good networker.
The world of voluntary management committee is not that strange to me based on my leadership exposure as the Past Presidents of Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management; Federation Alumni of Asian Institute of Management Associations; Malaysian Society of Training and Development; the CEO Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM); the International Council of Islamic Finance Educators; Sejahtera Leadership Initiative & Global Sejahtera. However, MYAEROSATU is a new kid on the block in global aerospace!
Is the goal for airlines worldwide to be carbon net zero by 2050 achieveable? The goal was set by the International Air Transport Associations (IATA) at its 2021 AGM in Boston for acclaim, as Europe's version, called Destination 2050, but the last two years have seen skepticism and concern about high costs of these goals, especially since the availability of affordable sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) remains far below the expectations.
