It is no big secret that Malaysia’s cost of living expenses are getting more expensive. With salaries remaining stagnant, many people resort to working multiple jobs to tide their expenses over. There are no right or wrong ways of being financially stable. If you are struggling to make ends meet or to pay even for the basic necessities, then here are some ways for you to save some money.

1 – Prepare food from home

We cannot survive without food and nutrition. Food expenses make up quite a good chunk of our expenses, hence we may look into it to see how we can save money on it. Buy groceries in bulk every week and prepare them for meals. Meal preps have been around for a long time so it’s worth looking into cheap meal prep ideas.

It may take a lot of time to prepare, but it does save you some money though. You may eat out once in a while and splurge on more expensive places during your weekend out. Nothing wrong with that.

2. Spend less on unnecessary things

If you are one of those people who love to go shopping, then maybe stop shopping so much, especially for unnecessary things. You may be confused between things you need and things you want. If that’s the case, then you may want to think long and hard about what you really need before spending that kind of money. Not everything you see is a need. Most times it’s a want.

Even if you do buy something you don’t need, what are you going to do with it in the long run? You’d quite likely toss it aside and not use it anymore in the long run.

3. Carpool to your destinations

If you are going to work in the same direction or location, then perhaps it’s worth carpooling with your neighbours to your offices. You can offer to pay for part of the fuel, which is only fair. Who knows you may even pay a lot less than what you are paying for what public transport is charging.

4. Rent out the extra rooms

If you own a house or apartment, why not rent out the rooms to people who may need them? It may be economically difficult times but it does not need to remain hard all the time. Make your empty rooms make money. You’d be surprised at how much money you can earn from there – if you own a house or apartment, that is.

Bottom Line

Times may be hard in Malaysia but it does not need to be that way forever. There are so many ways you can save and earn money in such economically hard times in the country. Here are just some examples of how to make things work in your favour economically.
