In the wake of the recent Dubai Move, Datuk A. Kadir Jasin, a seasoned journalist and blogger, has raised intriguing questions about its authenticity and purpose.

He argues that while concerns over an alleged plot to overthrow the government may be in the public eye, the real issue lies in maintaining absolute control over monetary access by perceived enemies of the unity government.

Kadir asserts the pivotal role of money in political maneuvering, noting that power is often synonymous with financial influence. He highlights instances where opposition MPs appeared to defect in support of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim under the guise of securing allocations for their constituencies, suggesting that financial considerations may sway political allegiances.

Furthermore, he points to the ongoing investigations by enforcement agencies such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Inland Revenue Board (IRB), and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) targeting individuals not aligned with the unity government. According to Kadir, this proactive investigation has become a common practice, creating a climate of suspicion and tit-for-tat actions.

The crux of Kadir's argument lies in the assertion that the Dubai Move might be a strategic ploy by the current government.

He suggests that the move serves as a narrative and propaganda tool to paint dissenters as malicious individuals, attempting to sow discord and betray the nation.

In this view, the government may be diverting attention from its internal struggles by presenting an external threat.

Kadir underscores Anwar's significant administrative, political, and financial powers as the Prime Minister and Finance Minister. With an allocation of nearly RM79 billion under his control in Budget 2024, Kadir questions the likelihood that Anwar's enemies possess greater influence.

He points out that many of these perceived adversaries have had their accounts frozen and properties confiscated, questioning their capacity to challenge Anwar's authority.

In conclusion, Kadir posits that the Dubai Move could be a calculated deception aimed at creating unease within the opposition bloc.

He suggests that Anwar, throughout his political career, has consistently relied on the existence of a nemesis, whether real or imaginary, to legitimize his politics.

As the nation navigates these uncertain times, the public must critically evaluate the motives behind political narratives, ensuring transparency and accountability in the face of potential distractions.
