- The Constitution (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 2026, which formally devolves the dual roles of the Attorney General (AG) into two independent positions—the AG and the Public Prosecutor (PP)—scheduled to be re-tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on June 22, 2026,
- The Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2026, which proposes capping the prime minister’s tenure at a maximum of 10 years, failed to pass in the Dewan Rakyat on March 2, 2026. It garnered 146 votes in favor—falling just two votes short of the required two-thirds majority (148 votes) needed to amend the Federal Constitution. According to the Minister in the PM’s Dept (Law & Institutional Reform), the bill will be retabled in the Dewan Rakyat in June 2026.
Several other reforms put forward by civil societies are also unlikely to see the light of day as no politicians or political parties have the galls to support and pushed for it to be even considered given the present greed shown by the 2 political coalition in trying to cause a fall of the Madani government.
- The Political Financing Act. For the next general Election, GE 16, because of their failure to propose and pass this Act, politicians can still maintain stoic silence on how and who are funding them.
- Placing MACC under the purview of Parliament.
Malaysians, especially young people should make known their frustrations and tell those politicians out for your votes in the next General election for their commitment and a timeline to vote for all the above.
Every Malaysian who can vote must demand answers.
It is your right to criticise and question them.
That is your job.
Let them they are put there by you and they have to answer to you and not the other way round.
Because election pledges are not legally binding contracts, you, the voters only has one avenue or remedy against them for non fulfilment of their pledges - through the ballot box.
And that comes every 5 years.
