During the 25 Years of Justice Convention at IDCC Shah Alam, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed the government's unwavering commitment to upholding the authority and power of the Malay Rulers. Amidst recent controversies surrounding the judicial review application filed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi regarding the house arrest proposal for former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Anwar emphasized the government's adherence to due process and respect for the decisions of the Pardon Board and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA).

Anwar reiterated that the government has consistently defended the role of the Malay Rulers and has never sought to undermine their authority. He clarified that decisions made by judges and the final determinations of the Pardon Board, as endorsed by the YDPA, are sacrosanct and must be respected. Any challenges to these decisions, such as Zahid's affidavit, should be addressed within the established legal framework without compromising the integrity of the monarchy.

Responding to criticisms and attacks against the government's stance, Anwar underscored the importance of respecting institutional roles and mandates. He emphasized that discussions with legal experts, including the Attorney General and consultations with the Sultan and YDPA, informed the government's position on matters concerning the monarchy. Anwar stressed that the government's actions have always been in accordance with constitutional principles and national interests.

Despite ongoing challenges and controversies, Anwar reassured that the government remains steadfast and united in its commitment to governance. He dismissed attempts to sow discord among political factions, highlighting the cohesion within the Cabinet and government institutions. Anwar emphasized that while dissenting voices may exist, they do not reflect the consensus within the ruling coalition or jeopardize its stability.

Anwar's remarks underscore the government's commitment to upholding the rule of law and preserving the integrity of Malaysia's constitutional monarchy. By reaffirming respect for the Malay Rulers and institutional processes, Anwar seeks to maintain public confidence in the government's ability to govern effectively and responsibly.
