The second edition of this tournament, organised by LaLiga and FootGolf Malaysia, served once again to bring the Spanish championship closer to the fans in the Asian country with an event with representation from all 20 LaLiga Santander clubs.

Kuala Lumpur, May 24, 2022.- The Elche CF has been proclaimed champion of the “II LaLiga FootGolf Malaysia Cup”, beating the other 19 LaLiga Santander clubs and taking the baton from Deportivo Alavés, champion in the first edition, played last season.
In addition to Elche CF, who received the Champion’s Cup, RCD Espanyol and FC Barcelona won the second and third category champions’ prizes, as well as cash prizes worth MYR 5,000.
The twenty teams competed throughout the weekend playing 108 holes of Footgolf at FGM’s Bukit Jelutong course, through the group stage and subsequent play-offs which culminated in Elche CF winning the final against RCD Espanyol.
“From LaLiga we are always looking for ways to give visibility to all our clubs and to do so in a way that is attractive to fans. Thanks to this competition, we achieve a double objective, on the one hand to raise awareness of all LaLiga Santander teams and, on the other hand, to ensure that LaLiga’s presence in Malaysia translates into attractive actions for our fans,” said Adrian Prol, LaLiga’s delegate in Malaysia.
From FootGolf Malaysia, thet General Manager Jeffrey Cottam says “It’s a pleasure and an honour for Footgolf Malaysia to be partnering with La Liga, a global leader in the leisure and entertainment sector. Last year’s tournament was the first of its kind that FGM hosted with great success. Copa La Liga Footgolf is something we now look forward to hosting each year. It’s a unique event where our players thrash out 108 holes of footgolf over 2 days, playing Alternate Kick format which is one of the most difficult formats to play.”.
Elche CF, RCD Espanyol and FC Barcelona succeed Deportivo Alavés, Real Betis and Sevilla FC, respectively, winners of the first edition of a tournament that also served to close the 21/22 LaLiga Santander season, which concluded this weekend with Real Madrid winning the title.
