Recently, on the social media platform X.com (formerly known as Twitter), a user with the handle @hourlymalaytwt posed an intriguing question to the community: “Can y’all drop the craziest drama that happened in your uni? I’m feeling nosy.”
The tweet quickly gained traction, amassing over 6.5 million views, over 14 thousand quote tweets, and countless responses. Among the many replies, one particularly captivating story emerged from an alumna of UiTM Lendu, recounting an unforgettable chapter from her university journey.
Flashback to September 2014, a young woman named Siti Irina Ridzwan, just 20 years old at the time, experienced a harrowing ordeal. In the early hours of the morning, at 6:15 AM, Siti Irina was the victim of a robbery carried out by a man named Rahim Othman, who was in his 30s. This terrifying incident unfolded in an apartment located in Lendu, Alor Gajah, Melaka.
Rahim Othman, a car repossessor, unlawfully entered Siti Irina's unlocked apartment while she was sound asleep. Her first inkling of the intruder's presence was the ominous shadow of a man in her room. Startled but resolute, she screamed and fought back. In response, Rahim Othman turned aggressive and resorted to violence, stabbing her multiple times.
Siti Irina endured five stab wounds to her chest and one to her arm during the struggle that ensued. It was only after the assailant fled that she realized the extent of her injuries, as blood stained her clothes and the floor. Thankfully, prompt medical attention saved her life, and she survived this terrifying encounter.

In her recent response on X, Siti Irina shared a remarkable detail from that fateful night nine years ago. She recounted that her initial reaction upon discovering the intruder in her room was annoyance at being roused from her slumber—a response that only sleep-deprived students could truly comprehend. The perpetrator, Rahim Othman, was subsequently sentenced to eight years in prison and received two lashings with the cane.

Siti Irina was discharged from the hospital after 1 week and managed to recover about 80% 1 month later.
What makes Siti Irina's story truly exceptional is her resilience and determination. Despite surviving a traumatic stabbing incident, she went on to graduate in Mass Communications with a Vice Chancellor Award (ANC - Anugerah Naib Canselor). Her journey is nothing short of inspiring, and she stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of the human will.
