The all-new Jaguar Type 01 EV has been shown in full. Designed, engineered and manufactured in Great Britain.
It has been quite some time since Jaguar showed their controversial Type 00 Concept. Now, the full production version has been shown and it’s called the Type 01. The Jaguar Type 01 is an electric grand tourer with four seats and four doors. It’s the first new Jaguar model in almost ten years. The last new model launched by the company was the Jaguar I-Pace, an all-electric crossover that happened to be final Ian Callum designed Jaguar before his resignation in 2019. The new Type 01 was done under Gerry McGovern’s watch as JLR design chief with input from Alexey Andreev, Axel Goulee, Tom Holden, Rebecca Dockeray, and Mary Crisp. McGovern himself stepped down from his role in 2025.

The Jaguar Type 01 is an important vehicle for Jaguar as it leaves the era of competing with premium makes and enters a new dawn of taking on the upper crust like Rolls-Royce and Bentley. While it’s not the first EV from Jaguar, it is the first flagship from the brand in many, many years with the last Jaguar XJ being introduced in 2009. They’re here to make a statement about the brand’s future. To that end, Jaguar has not only designed and engineered the Type 01 in the UK, but they’re also putting it into production in the UK too.

The Type 01 has a triple motor set-up with over 1000PS and 1350Nm of torque available. It has 50:50 weight distribution and hits 0-100km/h in just 3.2 seconds. From the perspective of an EV, it’s also quite impressive with an 850V architecture, a massive 118kWh battery and around 720km of range on the WLTP cycle. The front features double wishbone while the rear features integral-link suspension with Dynamic air suspension and active dual-valve dampers all around. There are 5 drive modes. The vehicle also features all-wheel steering, active aerodynamics, and active cooling vanes. The headlights contain over 20,000 LEDs and are the slimmest ever from the brand. Wheel options range from 21″ to 23″.

Inside, there’s a massive 24″ OLED screen and a secondary 7″ vertical oriented touchscreen for climate controls and media controls. In addition, there’s a soundbar stretching the length of the windscreen. JLR’s ClearSight rear view display is used instead of a traditional centre mirror. All four seats are heated and cooled with the front seats getting 12-way power adjustments.

That’s about all we know about the Jaguar Type 01. We’re glad the company decided to lock the Type 00 Concept’s design for production. As controversial as it is, the Type 01 looks absolutely unique in its segment and we’re sure that’s enough of a reason to get some multi-millionaires interested.
