It has been officially recognized and verified on 15 May 2008 by Guinness World Records registered in England (No. 541295) that Bawabet Dimashq, also internationally known as The Damascus Gate Restaurant in Syria as being the largest restaurant in the world. It spans the total floor area of 20,000 meter (215,277.35 ft), which has 6,014 seats and boasts a 2,500 square meter of a massive kitchen. It's a celebration of Syrian culture, offering heritage traditional music & dance show, along with international and local dishes. It was briefly closed during Syrian civil war but reopened in 2018 with foreign outlets. During its peak operation, 1,800 staff are employed creating a welcoming atmosphere. During my recent walkabout in Kuala Lumpur, I spotted the biggest Damascus.my Restaurant located at the strategic corner of Jalan Bukit Bintang. It's one of the most delicious middle eastern food for dine-in for mouthwatering smell medley of lamb kebab with Arabic rice, vegetables and constant crowd. Our best friend, Datin Niki Yusof who accompanied my wife, Zarina & I for the walkabout, praised the quality of food served at Damascus with genuine Syrian flavors, particularly BBQ grill. Actually, we were overwhelmed with choice because just next to Damascus is Hameediyah Multi Concept Dining - the oldest Nasi Kandar Restaurant in Malaysia (1907)and opposite it is the famous Gate Halab (Yemen) Restaurant & Lounge. Both Hameediyah and Halab offering the conducive atmosphere for variety of their authentic dishes that exceeding customer service expectations.
