Starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the lead roles, the long-awaited sequel of the series is based on the video game The Last of Us Part II (2020). What happens in The Last of Us season 2 episode 2?

Perhaps the most shocking episode of The Last of Us series marks the death of Joel, which means that we will not see Pascal playing the iconic character except maybe in flashbacks.
Abby and her team are on a high mountaintop building from where they can see the fortified town of Jackson. Abby goes out on a watch during a blizzard when she stumbles upon a large group of the infected apparently buried in snow. But she is caught unawares as the infected suddenly rise and give chase. She is rescued by Joel, who is out on a routine patrol with Dina.
When Abby learns that the man who saved her is the one she intends to kill, she deceptively lures Joel and Dina to her mountaintop hideout. Once there, her group knocks Dina out.
Abby tells Joel that the doctor he killed while rescuing Ellie (see The Last of Us season 1 finale episode) was her father. Threatening to kill Dina if he doesn’t comply, Abby starts brutally assaulting Joel.
Ellie, who was out on another patrol with Jesse, sneaks into the building. She tries to protect Joel but is overpowered. Abby then goes on to kill Joel as Ellie watches in horror.
Meanwhile, Jackson is invaded by the infected. Tommy leads a counter attack with the residents to defend the town. Though many of the humans are killed, all the infected are eliminated.
