
The Lord Of The Rings – A Musical Tale, based on J R R Tolkien’s epic fiction trilogy, The Lord of the Rings, is all set to debut in Singapore in August 2025. With a limited-season run at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, the show will be the theatre production’s Asian premiere.
The musical was initially staged in 2006 and revived in 2023 at The Watermill Theatre in Newbury, Britain. Having already captivated audiences at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre and Civic Theatre Auckland, the production will tour Australia in January 2025. The musical features dialogues and lyrics by English theatre practitioners Shaun McKenna and Matthew Warchus. Adding to the appeal is the original score by noted musicians A R Rahman, Christopher Nightingale and the Finnish folk band Varttina.

Although the ticket prices for The Lord of the Rings musical have not yet been revealed, tickets are expected to go on sale on January 10, 2025, via Marina Bay Sands ticketing, Sistic, and Klook, with three rounds of pre-sales. Also, Klook World members can purchase tickets starting at 10 am on January 6 at a 20 percent discount. POSB and DBS cardholders enjoy priority access from January 7 at 10 am, with a 20 percent discount, until midnight on January 31.

The waitlisted subscribers of the show can purchase tickets at a 15 percent discount from noon on January 8, 2025, to midnight on January 31, 2025. The Lord Of The Rings — A Musical Tale, based on English author J R R Tolkien’s trilogy of the same name, tells the story from the perspective of the Hobbits in Middle-Earth, who have been given the challenging task of destroying an evil and compelling magic ring.
