Kota Kinabalu: The recent amendment to the Federal Constitution re-instating the constitutional position of Sabah and Sarawak within the Federation, as per the Malaysia Agreement 1963, also warrants a look at the grievances of the Bornean states and ways to address them.

“A major and extremely intricate complaint is that Sabah and Sarawak have not received the mandatory financial allocations that are due to them under the MA63 of July 9, and Article 112C and the 10th Schedule.

“For example, Sabah was promised 40 per cent of the net revenue derived by the Federation of Malaysia from the State.”
