Due to the divided Malay vote, former prime minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has projected that DAP will win the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

According to Mahathir, the country's Malay vote has become further fractured with the rise of splinter parties with a Malay base.

"The Malays are divided while the Chinese are unified, despite the fact that there are more Malay votes in the constituency than Chinese. Therefore, DAP might succeed," said Dr. Mahathir at Putra's Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house.

“The Malays were unified under Umno back then, and we were consistently able to secure a two-thirds majority in Parliament. However, as a result of our division, Putra and other Malay-based parties arose,” Dr. Mahathir stated.

According to Free Malaysia Today, the constituency of Kuala Kubu Baharu, a state seat in Selangor, is diverse, consisting of 46% Malay voters, 30% Chinese voters, 18% Indian voters, and 5% other voters.

There will be four contenders in the May 11 by-election: Pakatan Harapan, Perikatan Nasional, Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM), and an independent.

Pang Sock Tao of the DAP will compete against independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin, PRM's Hafizah Zainudin, and interim chairman Khairul Azhari Saut of Hulu Selangor Bersatu from the PN.

Following three-term DAP assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong's cancer-related death on March 21, the seat became vacant.

Even though former prime minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has predicted that Pakatan Harapan (PH) will win the Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB) by-election on May 11, Perikatan Nasional (PN) is not concerned.

According to Mohamed Azmin Ali, the chairman of the Selangor PN, KKB voters, not Mahathir, were the ones who decided the candidate's win.

“Dr. Mahathir holds that opinion. As an influential national politician, we value his opinions. However, Kuala Kubu Bharu voters are the ones who decide the outcome," he said to Malaysia Kini.
