As a management educator, I always remind my MBA students that “To be successfully manage a business, you'll need a range of hard and soft skills to enable you to oversee daily operations and drive long-term success. During your degree programs, you'll have the opportunity to learn all the necessary skills and put them to use in real-world situations, ensuring that you'll be ready for the immediate leap into professional life. While academic success is important, students who take time to develop practical skills are often better prepared to take the leap into professional life & find it easier to secure entry-level roles after graduation. In addition to academic work, you should seek out internship, part-time ventures or projects to develop skills that give a head start in the industry.”

I added, “Based on my corporate experience, one of the main roles of a business manager is to effectively manage your colleagues, demonstrating strong leadership and effectively managing them. Effective leadership involves the ability to delegate tasks, inspire and motivate colleagues and resolve conflicts when they occur. Effective communication (verbal, written & digital) is the real key to successful business management. Similarly, effective decision-making & problem-solving involve identifying the issue, consider all solutions, choosing the most reliable one to properly executing it.”

My success & errors in work at various industries, had taught me that effective business management involves real planning for the future, which can be done through strategic thinking & includes analyzing data, creating strategies to meet goals, and objectives, finding the most efficient way to implement these strategies, directing others and implementing strategies to all the stakeholders.
What I wish I know from my business management gurus when I was 25, is a much-needed advice & guide for me looking to make effective mark on professional world of work in the big industry.
