The ‘most talked about cost of living symbol’, according to Andy Burnham

  • The price of a Freddo chocolate bar has risen from 10p in 2005 to 39p, with Andy Burnham describing the sweet treat as the “most talked about cost of living symbol in the UK”.
  • Speaking in a social media video posted on Thursday, the prime minister said the cost of living is “at the top of my mind”.
  • “Now, I might not be able to do anything to reduce the price of these, but here’s what I am doing to help bring down the cost of living”, he told viewers.
  • The PM then reeled off a list of measures his party is implementing to help, including capping bus fares, and cutting business rates for pubs and clubs.
  • “I will fight to take the pressure off and make Britain better off... if only I could make Freddo’s cheaper,” he said.
