  • Ridley Scott revealed he declined a $20m offer to direct Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, stating he "can't be bought" and it was not his style.
  • The filmmaker explained he would have tried to make the film too realistic, contrasting with the franchise's "comic strip" nature, and likened it to why he would not direct a James Bond movie.
  • James Cameron, who directed the first two Terminator films, stepped away from the franchise before the third instalment was made.
  • Scott confirmed that a third Gladiator film is currently "in process" following the box office success of Gladiator II.
  • He also expressed openness to directing another Alien prequel if he develops a suitable idea.
