The Night Manager season 2 wrapped up its six-episode run after an explosive finale that kept fans glued to their seats. But is season 3 of The Night Manager on the cards, or is it time to bid farewell to our favourite spy for good?

Helmed by Georgi Banks-Davies, the second season of the hit BBC One spy thriller show premiered 10 years after its first season, which was adapted from John le Carré’s 1993 novel of the same name.

The second instalment follows Jonathan Pine (played by Tom Hiddleston), who now heads the Night Owls, an MI6 surveillance unit under the new identity of Alex Goodwin. But the espionage-free life that he leads comes to a screeching halt when he discovers that the Chief of the MI6 Mayra Cavendish (played by Indira Varma), is not only corrupt, but has joined hands with his arch-nemesis Richard Onslow Roper (played by Hugh Laurie) to create a dangerous regime change in Colombia with the help of Richard’s son Teddy Dos Santos (played by Diego Calva), a ruthless Colombian businesswoman named Roxana Bolaños (played by Camila Morrone) and José Cabrera (played by Luis Fernando Hoyos).

This information forces Jonathan to go undercover once again, this time as a banker named Matthew Ellis. But the more he finds out, the deadlier it gets for him and the people he cares about.

So, is The Night Manager season 3 happening?

In a recent conversation with This Morning, MCU star Tom Hiddleston revealed that The Night Manager will indeed be back for a season 3. During his appearance, he said, “I can reveal that there will be, there’s gonna be more. We always constructed this one as the beginning of a 12-episode story. So that actually, it gave us, I think, greater scope in terms of imagining where this story might go, knowing we had another season to come.”

Hiddleston explained that season 2 of The Night Manager was never supposed to be a standalone chapter. Instead, the creative team planned the revival as part of a longer arc. He went on to add, “We always constructed this one at the beginning of a twelve-episode story. It gave us greater scope, in terms of imagining where the story might go, knowing that we had another story come.”

According to Variety, director Georgi Banks-Davies said, “There was a third season that was always in the offing. David is writing it now — he’s at the coalface and in the early stage. But yeah, when the second season came the plan was to go to three. So, when you see our whole series, you’ll see it can sit entirely alone but can also sit very much as the second book in the trilogy.”

Is there a potential release date or any cast information available for The Night Manager season 3?

As of 1 February 2026, a release date for The Night Manager season 3 has not yet been announced. But during his interview, Hiddleston did mention that the third instalment will not involve another 10-year wait. Since it is in early development already, we hope to see a 2027-2028 release window.

The plot and cast details of The Night Manager season 3 are currently under wraps; however, Hiddleston and Laurie are most likely to return as the story will pick up where season 2 left off.

What happens in the finale of season 2?

Spoilers ahead!

The second instalment concludes with Jonathan finding out that he has been outwitted by Richard. The illegal arms dealer successfully manages to deliver the cargo shipment carrying the highly dangerous British electromagnetic pulse weapon to José’s camp as scheduled. He then shoots his son Teddy for betraying him, before sending someone from his team to kill intelligence officer Angela Burr (played by Olivia Colman).

The finale draws to a close with Richard and Mayra walking away scot-free.
