The nine sets of twins ready to start primary school in one area of Scotland

  • Nine sets of twins are preparing to start primary one across Inverclyde on Tuesday, 18 August.
  • The siblings gathered at Ardgowan Primary School in Greenock for an official welcome photocall hosted by Inverclyde Council.
  • Inverclyde, affectionately nicknamed Twinverclyde, has welcomed 176 sets of twins into its schools since 2013, averaging 12 sets a year.
  • The region set a record in 2015 when 19 sets of twins started school in a single term.
  • Education convener Councillor Jim Clocherty wished all pupils and staff success as they return to newly renewed and refurbished classrooms.
